By re-registering, students declare that they wish to continue their studies in the following semester. Re-registration is usually confirmed by the timely payment of the semester fee.
Re-registeration for the following semester consitutes an acknowledgement that you have read the current rules and regulations on the "General University Regulations" website.
As soon as the semester fee has been credited to your account, you will be re-registered for the following semester (provided there is no re-registration block). You can then immediately validate your Goethe-Card for the following semester.
Re-registration for upcoming exams: Please contact your examination office first. Only your examinations office can tell you whether you need to be enrolled for the upcoming exam period (i.e. whether you need to re-register) or whether you can take the exam "externally."
Please note that even if you do not re-register, you are still required to de-register at your examination office for all examinations for which you have registered or for which you have been scheduled to appear. If you do not de-register in the proper manner, the exam will be considered "failed" for non-attendance.
Winter semester re-registration deadline: July 31
Deadline for late registration winter semester (with €30 late fee): August 31
Summer semester re-registration deadline: January 31
Late registration deadline summer semester (with €30 late fee) February 28/29
Please be sure to adhere to these deadlines even if you plan to change subjects or apply for another degree program (bachelor's, master's, doctorate).
Re-registration for the next semester is only possible if the semester fee has been received by Goethe University in full by the deadline and there is no re-registration block. If the semester fee has not been received by the university by the deadline, it can be subsequently paid until the end of the grace period with a €30 late fee.
If the university still does not receive the increased semester fee by that date, you will be de-registered the following month.
After the semester fee has been received by the university, you can retrieve the re-registration confirmation (master data sheet, study and semester certificates) from Goethe Campus.
Please note that it takes about 5 working days for the bank transfer to be processed.
In order to be able to use the RMV-ASTA Semesterticket, you must renew your electronic student ID (Goethe Card) with the RMV-ASTA Semesterticket at the ticket validator for the coming semester. More information about the Goethe Card can be found here.
The decision on your application does not exempt you from paying late semester fees. If you do not receive a place in your desired program, the full semester fee will be refunded upon de-registration.
