Paul obtained his undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at the University of Aberdeen. In his thesis, he focused on the problems in the philosophy of science foundation of economics and argued for theoretical pluralism. He is now pursuing his Master's degree in Modern East Asian Studies (MEAS) at Goethe University with a focus on China. As a research assistant at the Chair of Qualitative Empirical Social Research Methods, he is involved in research on the ontological and epistemological foundations of qualitative methods.
