Maximilian Becker is a Ph.D. student in sociology and a pre-doctoral researcher at Goethe University since February 2023. His research interests include work, gender and sexualities, qualitative methods and the sociological perspective on trust. He is currently working in a CLBO research project regarding trust in organizations and how different factors affect trust in leadership.

According to recent research on trust, homophily is highly linked to trust-building and trustworthiness. People who share certain characteristics and categorizations tend to trust each other more and are perceived as rather trustworthy by their peers. Looking at work environments this phenomenon is in parts well researched. Especially the categories of age and gender found great attention in recent studies. Other structural categories have been of interest for other spaces than work. In my research I want to find out, which categories influence trust-building in which way. Further questions include: How do these circumstances affect leadership and the relationships between colleagues? How do attraction, perception and sexuality affect trust-building?
