Our professorship group focuses on the Sociology of Work. Here you can find information about our research, publications, teaching, and our team.
Our Reasearch Our thematic origin point to our approach to “The Sociology of Work" is that work is not only paid work. To truly understand the sociology of work, domains of unpaid work must be considered together with paid work.
Our Publications include books, chapters, and peer reviewed pieces.
Our Teaching is focused on the bachelor- and masters-level sociology programs. We appreciate the complexity of the sociology of work research area and design courses for students to help work out these complexities and their consequences with an eye on the open questions that contemporary changes may bring. The courses we offer can be grouped in three general areas: (a) The sociology of work, (b) Work and Gender, and (c) Work and Family.
Our Team We are a collegial, harmonious, cooperative team typically comprised of one to two post-docs, one to five doctoral candidates, an administrative manager, an academic instructor (akademische Rätin), student assistants, student tutors, and Prof. Heather Hofmeister.
