Master Molekulare Biowissenschaften

The Master's Degree Programme is coordinated by the Institute of Molecular Biosciences.
The Molecular Biosciences Degree Programme should impart the following:

  • Methodological and conceptual abilities in research
  • The capability to conduct interdisciplinary research
  • Independent scientific thinking
  • Responsible behaviour

After completion of their Degree Programme, our graduates should be able to familiarise themselves with the new developments in the molecular sciences and biotechnological in a research-oriented manner.

The focuses provided are in the following fields:

  • Microbiology
  • Cell biology
  • Plant physiology
  • Developmental biology
  • Genetics
  • Biochemistry
  • Biotechnology
  • RNA biology
  • Bioinformatics

Our model organisms are unicellular ones from the group of the Archaea and Bacteria as well as eukaryotes, but also multicellular fungi and plants.

Organisation of the Master’s Study Programme

  1. Semester Module 1 (molecular biology) and Module 2 (biochemistry)
  2. Semester elective modules
  3. Specialisation semester
  4. Master’s thesis semester

The elective and specialisation modules address problem complexes of molecular

  • Microbiology
  • Botany
  • Cell biology
  • Developmental biology
  • RNA biochemistry
  • Genetics
  • Physiology
  • Biotechnology
