Preparations for the stay abroad:

It may be very helpful to read other students‘ experience reports about your destination country and city. They provide valuable information about living in the respective country or city and practical tips (e.g. opening up a bank account, the public transportation system, finding an accommodation, travel tips etc.)

Also, the DAAD website provides specific information about the respective countries (visa requirements, work permit, costs of living, etc.)

The Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) provides information about:

  • Safety regulations of the respective country
  • Recommended vaccination
  • German diplomatic missions abroad
