Biography of Prof. Sigrid Roßteutscher, PhD

I have been a professor in the Department of Social Sciences at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main since 2007. I studied Political Science and History at the University of Mannheim and earned my doctorate with a thesis on value conflicts in reunified Germany at the European University Institute in Florence (1997). In 2006, I completed my habilitation at the University of Mannheim on the role of religion in European civil societies. I focus on questions of political participation, electoral research and research on voter turnout, the relationship between religion and politics, and the significance of social capital for politics and society. Since 2009, I have been co-director of the German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES) and since 2020 chair of the German Society for Electoral Studies (DGfW).
