Boundary Layer Meteorology

Boundary Layer Meteorology at the Atmosphere and Environment, Geosciences Department

The working group for Boundary Layer Meteorology

The research group investigates the dynamics of the atmospheric boundary layer over complex surfaces. A particular focus of our work is on the coherent structures in the convective and stable boundary layer and the coupling of the atmosphere with the underlying land surface. One of our important research tools are large eddy simulations (LES). A key aim of the group is to contribute to an improvement of boundary layer parameterizations in weather and climate models.
