International Lab Visits

Goethe University Frankfurt offers scholarships for enrolled graduate students of the interdisciplinary degree programs:

  • M.Sc. Interdisciplinary Neuroscience
  • M.Sc. Molecular Medicine and
  • M.Sc. Environmental Science (Umweltwissenschaften)

Scholarships are granted for the following mobility types:

  • laboratory internships abroad
  • Internship abroad with the goal to complete the Master thesis
  • Research Internship abroad (field research or at a research institute)

Only internships outside of Germany with a minimum period of 1 month are eligible for funding.

The maximal funding duration ends after 6 months.

Annual Application Deadlines:

End of November: for research stays abroad starting between January and June
End of May: for research stays abroad starting between July and December

Intl. Lab Visit Scholarship are available for:

  • enrolled fulltime students of Goethe University of the degree programs M.Sc. Interdisciplinary Neuroscience, M.Sc. Molecular Medicine and M.Sc. Environmental Science (Umweltwissenschaft)
  • completing a self-organized internship with a minimum duration of one month at a laboratory, a research institute, in the field or in the context of completing your Master thesis

If nominated, you need to hand in an evaluation report and a participation certificate (i.e. a letter by your host institution confirming the final period of your internship) within six weeks after your internship is complete.

Scholarships include monthly rates and a one-time travel expenses rate: 
  • The amount of the scholarship depends on the target country.
  • They range from 350€ to 550€ per month and from 200€ to 2.000€ for travel expenses.

The scholarship rates of Intl. Lab Visits are based on the DAAD PROMOS scholarship rates.

Students who wish to apply need to hand in the following application documents before the application deadline:

  • Completed and signed Application Form
  • Current Certificate of Enrolment at Goethe University
  • GPA (Bachelor degree + current GPA), for your current GPA only donwloaded schemes via QIS-system are accepted (Home > Administration of exams > Exam Reports > Transirpt of Records)
  • Letter of Acceptance/Invitation of host supervisor
  • Letter of Motivation
    (1-2 pages, project description including methodology and reasons for choice of host institution)
  • CV (applicant)
  • CV (host supervisor including publication list)

A selection committee of each involved degree program selects a number of nominees each application round. The main selection criteria are the academic assessment of your research project and your 
GPA (Bachelor degree + current GPA).
