Welcome to the Sport and Exercise Psychology Unit at Goethe University Frankfurt

The field of exercise and sport psychology deals with the psychological factors influencing performance, information processing and subjective experience in sport-related contexts. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of self-regulatory processes (e.g., emotion regulation, attention regulation) and the effects of mental fatigue on sport-related performance (e.g., persistence, physical activity). In our (quasi)experimental research, we pursue an empirical, transdisciplinary approach and aim to derive practical sport-related recommendations from our findings. In order to achieve this goal, we cooperate with various top associations and local sports clubs.

In university teaching, we represent sport psychology in its entire spectrum and are also responsible for methodological training.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
