MEAS was precisely the course I was looking for after graduating with a BA in Japanese. Coming from a cultural studies background, I felt a gap between my linguistic ability and my ability to understand social sciences concepts. The courses offered in MEAS allowed me to further polish my Japanese language proficiency. At the same time, it also allowed me to pursue various courses related to law, economics and much more. Furthermore, MEAS offers courses from multiple East Asian regions (China, Korea, SE Asia). This helps me diversify my understanding of social science concepts from just one region into a global one! I am hopeful that the course's interdisciplinary nature will help me in my professional career.

The people at the department have also been very supportive. They have given me a lot of help in getting used to the course and even life in Germany. An active department, a supporting student body, an interdisciplinary and multilingual approach to studies make me very confident that the experience in the course will be a good one!
