IT Competence Center for Applied Safety Technology

Prof. Dr. Spiecker is a member of the Competence Centre for Applied Safety Technology (KASTEL) at Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT). KASTEL is one of three research centers for Cyber Safety in Germany. It was initialized in March 2011 by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and has been positively evaluated in 2015. KASTEL’s main objective is the development of secure IT applications in a continuous process.

Prof. Spiecker researches among other things in collaboration with her study group the conditions of electronic integration of an effective consent in accordance to § 4a BDSG, the legitimacy in terms of data protection law of intelligent (video) control systems as well as possibilities of effective anonymization.
