Trains/Deutsche Bahn

The Deutsche Bahn is the German railway company that runs the majority of the German railway system. Timetable information and booking options can be found here. Tickets can be purchased online or at ticket machines. Your ticket will be particularly inexpensive if you buy it at least two weeks prior to leaving (Frühbucherpreis).

Additionally, there are special offers such as the Hessenticket, or the Deutschlandticket that allow for budget-friendly travelling in regional trains.

The Deutschland-Ticket costs 49€ per month. It allows you to travel limitless throughout all of Germany, using all means of local public transportation (such as RMV, Regio trains etc...). Only high speed trains (ICE/IC) are excluded from the offer. You may purchase the ticket directly in one of the Reisezentren of the Deutsche Bahn (e.g.: Frankfurt main station) or online. This ticket comes digital and as a monthly subscription, only. However, it can be cancelled by the 10th  of each month. Thus you should not forget to cancel your subscription once your stay comes to an end.

Further permanent discount is granted if you purchase a BahnCard of either 25%, 50% or 100% reduction on all tickets.

Additionally FlixTrain offers train connections from and to Frankfurt (Süd).
