Important information on supervising the Master's thesis

The Master's thesis can only be supervised by a member of the department who holds a doctorate.

At least one of the reviews must come from a professor.

An application must be made to the examination committee for an assessment by a person from outside the subject area and reasons must be given.

With the consent of the chairperson of the examination committee, the Master's thesis can also be written at an institution outside the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University. In this case, the topic must be set in consultation with a member of the professorial group of the responsible subject. The external supervisor can be approved by the examination committee as a second examiner for the Master's thesis.
