Model systems and methods

As a model organism, we use the zebrafish embryo. This model offers many advantages for research since the embryos can be easily obtained in large numbers and their external development is rapid. Most important, they are fully transparent which enables the observation of the organ development at high resolution and in living organisms.

Main methods that we currently use in the lab:

Live imaging using spinning disc confocal microscopy

Generation of mutants using TALEN and Crispr/cas9 system
