Subject-specific admission requirements

The admission requirement for this program is a completed bachelor's degree in political science or a related or comparable course of study.

Related or comparable courses of study are those in which political science, sociology, philosophy, legal theory, or economic theory coursework and examinations totaling at least 60 credit points (CP) according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) have been earned.

Students who have originally studied political science in their major or minor subject in the Bachelor's program with a minimum of 60 credit points can apply in any case and fulfill the content-related requirements.

Students who have not studied political science to the extent of at least 60 credit points in their bachelor's degree will be examined individually by the selection committee. In this case, the selection committee decides on the comparability of the achievements. All students who have not originally studied Political Science as a major or minor subject with at least 60 CP must submit the following form. Here you have the opportunity to state yourself which achievements you consider to be political science-related and comparable.

Please note that in the M.A. Political Theory, unlike the other political science MA programs in Faculty 03, achievements in philosophy, sociology, legal theory, and economic theory are also considered comparable.

If you are unsure whether your achievements from the Bachelor's program qualify you for the Master's program, you can obtain a non-binding assessment at studienfachberatung.fb03@soz.uni-frankfurt.de.
