Geförderte Projekte: Report on 10th Young Environmental Scientists Meeting

The 10th Young Environmental Scientists Meeting went virtual!

From 22nd to the 26th of February, the 10th Young Environmental Scientists meeting took place in virtual space organized by students of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC). A total of 132 participants helped make this online conference an incredible virtual and personal experience, including the organizing and scientific committee, helping hands, keynote speakers, course lecturers, and last but not least, 103 attending young environmental scientists. The event comprised not only two days of live sessions, covering eight scientific research fields and one time zone adapted Asia-Pacific special session, but also eleven workshops and training courses and four inspiring keynote talks. Topics reached from mental health literacy to data management, scholarship applications and personal brand building to insights into government, industry and academic careers, which formed an intense week full of opportunities. The relaxed but professional “from students – for students”-atmosphere of the YES-meeting enabled memorable virtual social activities and, with this, a one of a kind digital networking environment. The organizing committee of the YES2021 meeting feels proud to say that this virtual meeting was an overall success. After uncounted hours of preparation and many learned lessons, this one week certainly strengthed the global network of future environmental scientists and even founded friendships that cross the globe. All this would not have been possible without many, many helping hands and of course not without the generous support of the YES2021-sponsors, namely: GRADE Sustain of the Goethe University, Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, Agilent, Syngenta, ToxRat, fera, Environmental Science & Technology, Talking Bridge and SETAC Europe.
