  • you know the basics of image composition
  • you know the different formats for the implication with regard to content
  • you have a feeling for how to move and speak in front of the camera

REVIEW EVENT-MANAGEMENT

WINTER SEMESTER 2020/21

Thank you for your participation in the winter semester 2020/21!

EVENT-MANAGEMENT: ShortFilmFestival Digital

In this semester, we want to organize a ShortFilmFestival Digital with you! In the last semester, we have all been surprised by the pandemic and the consequences. Unfortunately, our planned projects could not be carried out because of contact restrictions and the lockdown. Because of this, 26 participants who participated in the student project "videoclip production" during the summer semester 2020 came up with something else. Every participant dealt with the topic "corona, lockdown and studying" differently and 6 short films were produced. These films shall now be presented during the ShortFilmFestival Digital. And to make this possible, we need you! Together with the team of Act, Connect & Reflect you will organize the festival largely independently.

Planning an event requires a lot of commitment, organizational talent, and professional know-how. In the field of volunteering, events are often the only source of income to finance other activities or purchases. This is particularly important for student councils and initiatives. Therefore, it is often assumed that students can organize a party. But is it really that simple? The organization is complex and raises many questions like: How do I set a date? Where should the festival, the meeting or the conference take place? Who do I invite and how many people? How can I rent a room? Who will help? Should I look for cooperation partners? How high are the costs? Should there be entertainment? Organizing an (online) event that could lead to personal success is a big challenge.

In this student project you will receive the opportunity to learn event mangement theoretically and to put it directly into practice. With your knowledge you support the programme of the "Internationaler Studierendentreff" (IST) with your contribution: the Digital ShortFilmFestival.

Course of the project:

Planning meeting I: launch and concept of the project schedule: 10.02.21, 5-7 pm

– Presentation of the project framework and the project team
– Input: event management of a short film festival and presentation of the footage
– Creation of the project committee: first project design/-planning and allocation of tasks

Planning meeting II: preliminary results and project management: 24.02.21, 5-7 pm

– Presentation of the preliminary results of the project work
– Coordination of the next project steps: prioritization, (new) allocation of tasks
– Joint reflection on how the teamwork has been so far: is help needed? Are there difficulties?

Planning meeting III: final coordination: 10.03.21, 5-7 pm

– Fine tuning of the final steps
– Concrete allocation of the tasks on the evening of the event

Evening event, 02.06.21, 7-9 pm

Digital short film festival

VIDEOCLIP PRODUCTION - THE VIRUTAL CAMPUS

You would like to volunteer but don't know exactly how? Then you have the opportunity to get involved in a practical project accompanying your studies.

The International Office is looking forward to offering the workshop "Videoclip Production" in cooperation with the Institue for Film Studies again during the Winter semester 2020/21. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of film production so that you can successfully produce a film. The theme will still be the campus life. However, we will use the current crisis as an opportunity to experiment with alternative methods of film produciton. You will produce your films with your smartphones, in the form of video diaries or other material such as photos, audio or found footage. We will use online tools for video editing to edit your films. The tutors will be present duirng pre-arranged online sessions to coach and help you.

Use the opportunity to capture your experiences and circumstances in this particular time - also to share them with your friends and family all over the world.

  • What moves you in these times?
  • What do you study?
  • What does your workplace look like?
  • How do you communicate with your lecturers and fellow students?

REVIEW EVENT-MANAGEMENT

WINTER SEMESTER 2019/20

Thank you for your participation in the winter semester 2019/20!

EVENT-MANAGEMENT

SEMESTER CLOSING EVENT

In addition to courses, many other events take place at the university. If you walk across campus, you will find countless advertisement posters. Some of these events are advertised professionally. A large number of people are involved in the organization of conferences or closing ceremonies,  often far more than one would initially expect.

Will there be food and drinks? Etc., etc. ... Organizing an event that could lead to personal success is a big challenge. After all, hosts and guests should feel comfortable, present themselves well, but also be able to celebrate and remember the experiences positively. Last but not least, the costs have to be well calculated and (if possible) profits have to be made.

This training project gives you the opportunity to learn event management theoretically and to put what you have learned into practice. With your knowledge, you should creatively support the Internationale Studientreff (IST) at its semester closing event. In order to complete this task successfully, we will provide you with the following resources:

  • In the Event Management workshop, you will learn more about the process of event management

  • You will learn about personal time planning in the Time Management workshop

  • In the Diversity and Team Resource Management workshop, you can learn how to recognize competencies as a group and how you can implement the division of tasks in a meaningful way.

REVIEW VIDEOCLIP PRODUCTION

WINTER SEMESTER 2019/20

Thank you for your participation in the winter semester of 2019/20!

VIDEO CLIP PRODUCTION - My uni! ORIENTATION AROUND THE CAMPUS

Go to the report

Institutes, companies, or associations strive to present themselves visually in the media world in order to be perceived better. Many use short video clips. Visual impressions intend to attract the attention of the viewer and potential customers, and in just a few seconds information has to be conveyed, interest has to be peaked, and in the best case, a need is generated. The production of a video clip requires a high degree of professionalism starting with the concept, and filming the final product is a long and complex process.

With the skills acquired in this workshop, you can profitably support an association, an organization, or your student initiative in public relations. Media competence is a vital requirement for every job. This workshop provides comprehensive training and is based on theoretical knowledge of modern media science. At the same time, you will learn the basics of several important application programs for media design. Additionally, public relations and working with social networks such as Instagram (which are part of the everyday business), are a "must-have" requirement for internships and jobs.

As a participant in the practical project, you will take part in four workshops: You will learn about the different processes and create your own video on topics centered around "My university - an orientation around the campus." at Goethe University; for example, "how to use the Goethe Card", "who lives how and why?", or "Your way to Goethe University - useful tips". The aim is to facilitate orientation in the first semester for new international students. You will develop the topic in Workshop I.

In the pre-production phase, you will also learn everything about film concepts, scriptwriting, casting and film crew set up, location search, and device setup. Then comes production, which includes camera and lighting technologies, sound recording, and directing.

The post-production phase deals with video editing with Adobe Premiere Pro, film soundtrack, and exporting the film.

In the end, you will present your film. You can plan an event or have it planned by the event management team.

  • Pre-production: The basics for successful filming (Video Clip Production Part I)

  • Film Production I: Techniques for Successful Cinematography (Video Clip Production Part II)

  • Film Production II: Editing Systems & Development of Workflows (Video Clip Production Part III)

  • Film post-production: completion and screening of your film (video clip producing part IV)
