Research supervision: research ethics/experiences of violence
As PhD candidate or Postdoc with a GRADE registration you can take advantage of an individual research supervision.
There are research projects in which ethical questions or violence are at the center or must be addressed: field research in a civil war area, for example, or an oral history survey with concentration camp survivors, a study of discourses on right-wing violence, bullying in schools, or an investigation of the situation of refugees in urban reception camps. However, there is usually no consideration of what this context or content means for the researchers involved - how they deal with burdensome issues and/or ethical questions and whether or to what extent this also influences the research process. GRADE would like to break new ground here and offer supervision to scholars who work on violence and/or ethical questions.
This service focuses on the individual coping strategies in the face of the described challenges. It does not replace legal advice and ethical approval as it might be offered by legal departments and ethics committees. The supervision sessions remain strictly confidential.
The sessions are free of charge for GRADE participants. Are you not yet registered with GRADE, but would like to meet the coach? Please contact us. We'll find a solution.
Supervision is offered in English and German and takes place by appointment only. To set up an appointment, please send an e-mail to the coach.
Upcoming dates are listed on the right.
