Support by your supervisor at the faculty

Doctorate supervision mainly consist of a dialogue between you and your professor or perhaps also with a team of supervising professors. They will support you in issues of content and together with you will draft a schedule and procedure for your doctorate. You will discuss the progress of your work in regular meetings with the supervisor. It is recommended that you enter into a supervising agreement with your supervisor.

The International Offices’ social counselling services will offer advice during your doctorate, e.g. regarding extension of your residence permit.

Graduate Centre Social Sciences (GRASOC)

(for doctoral candidates at the faculty for Social Sciences)

The Graduate Centre bundles graduate support services for doctoral and PostDoc candidates at the faculty for Social Sciences. It is designed to create the best possible environment for achieving your doctorate and help develop career opportunities for PostDocs by means of focused training and advice.

The specific form of the programme is developed by way of a dialogue between the doctoral candidates and their supervisors. GRASOC also serves as a platform that contributes to better self-management of and networking among the doctoral candidates, for example by supporting thematically focused working groups, so-called DocAGs.
