International Study and Language Centre ISZ
The ISZ combines and covers the wide range of services provided by Goethe University in the fields of German as a foreign language, foreign languages, and university preparation for international applicants.
The ISZ is where you will find the dates for the following:
- Start and end of the ‘Studienkolleg’ (preparatory college) course
- Start and end of the DSH-certificate courses (B2, C1); per semester – student status required
- Start and end of intensive German language courses (B1, B2, C1); the duration of these courses is 4-5 weeks each, no student status required
- Dates for university assessment test and supplementary exams (“FSP = Feststellungsprüfung”, “EP = Ergänzungsprüfung”)
Concerning visa applications
When applying for a student visa for Germany (for international students from outside the EU) you should calculate a waiting period of several weeks up to two months. In isolated cases it may take even longer. It is therefore important that you apply for a visa with the German diplomatic mission in your home country in good time.
