4th meeting of the FOR 2125

The 4th meeting of the FOR 2125 took place from the 17th to the 18th of November at the Limes Hotel in Wehrheim, Germany. The members of the research unit exchanged preliminary results, data and knowledge of the CarboPaT projects. Furthermore the scientists discussed follow-up projects.

EHPRG – Best poster and picture prize

The 54th European High Pressure Research Group International Meeting (EHPRG) was held in Bayreuth, Germany, from 02.-09. September. Prof. Dr. Natalia Dubrovinskaia and Prof. Dr. Leonid Dubrovinsky, both principal investigators within the research unit FOR 2125, were the hosts of the 54th EHPRG.

During the sessions MS 19A (chair: Prof. Dr. Björn Winkler, project speaker and principal investigator of the FOR 2125) and MS 19B Carbonates at extreme conditions and volatiles in Earth and planetary interiors, many of the CarboPaT-members presented their work. In addition posters were presented by further members of the research unit, especially within the session P19 Carbonates at extreme conditions and volatiles in Earth and planetary interiors.

As highlight Nicole Biedermann, the PhD student of project 4 of the FOR 2125, was awarded with the Best Student Poster Prize and Dr. Thomas Schlothauer, researcher of project 5, won the first place in the Best Image Contest Art in Science.

3rd meeting of the FOR 2125

From the 21st to the 22nd of April 2016 the members of FOR 2125 met in Freiberg, Germany. The hosts of the TU Freiberg organized a guided tour by Dipl.-Min. Thomas Schlothauer through the shock wave laboratory Reiche Zeche. The first talks were held at the Heilstollen and following presentations were given at the Krüger Haus.

The CarboPaT project was reviewed by Dr. Karen Friese from the Jülich Centre for Neutron Science, who attended the meeting. In addition to the exchange of preliminary results of the projects between the members of the research unit, Prof. Craig Manning, the director of the Deep Carbon Observatory (DCO), gave an invited talk about the DCO.
