First results of the projects were presented at the 2nd meeting of the FOR 2125 at the Limes Hotel in Wehrheim, Germany.

Kick-off meeting of the FOR 2125
The Kick-off meeting was the 1st meeting of the new research unit FOR 2125. During this meeting in Hamburg at DESY the projects were introduced and knowledge was exchanged. As a highlight, micro-machining with the Optec machine, which is located near the Extreme Conditions Beamline at PETRA III, was demonstrated to the scientists.

SEM delivered
The new desktop scanning electron microscope (SEM) Phenom Pro X has been delivered.
A magnification up to 100000x enables the investigation of the surface structures of the samples used in the projects as well as the products of a laser ablation system. The microscope is equipped with an EDX system, which can detect elements from carbon to americium. Therefore chemical analysis and elemental maps can be obtained to determine the quality of the samples investigated.
