Service Point for Refugees
All highly qualified refugees, especially asylum-seekers and those entitled to asylum (including their spouses or children), must have a valid German university entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung; “Abitur”) and/or have already studied in their respective homelands. A strong intention of study is also required.
Applicants must reside in a district within the area of the RMV (Rhein-Main-Verkhersverbund), preferably close to Frankfurt.
Furthermore no applicants who are interested in an engineering degree can be considered (except for engineers in information technology (IT)).
Before applying for the AWP program, applicants must demonstrate A2-Level proficiency in German (a B1-Level is recommended).
Exception for Ukrainian refugees: For the A1 and/or A2 German courses starting probably in May 2022, no German language skills must be proven.
For those interested in attending lectures, seminars, etc. (Lehrveranstaltungen), at minimum a B2-Level proficiency in German is required (for courses taught in English an appropriate knowledge of English is required). Attendance at any lectures or seminars must be approved by the head lecturer. Lectures in the subjects of medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy cannot be attended.
