Master of Arts in Sociology - Structure and content (2015 Programme Regulations)

The Master programme in Sociology is structured in modules. It is composed of five compulsory modules and three compulsory elective modules.

In detail, the M.A. in Sociology comprises the following modules:

  • Module 1: Sociological Theory, History of Sociology and Philosophy of Science

Compulsory elective modules: Three are selected from Modules 2 to 8. 

  • Module 2: Gender, Migration and Diversity
  • Module 3: Micro-Sociology, Social Psychology and Culture
  • Module 4: Economy, Work and Organization
  • Module 5: Social Structure and Social Inequality
  • Module 6: Knowledge, Technology and Environment
  • Module 7: Advanced Methods in Empirical Social Research
  • Module 8: Specialization

  • Module 10: Research Training II
  • Module 11: Research Design
  • Module 12: Examination/Thesis
