Rhein-Main goes EU

The EU's new framework programme for research and innovation Horizon Europe was launched on 1 January 2021. The RMU strategic alliance offers the series of info sessions Rhein-Main goes EU. Here you can get an overview of new funding opportunities and gain insight into how to best prepare your proposals. All events will take place online and are guided by the structure of Horizon Europe.

The events will take place either in English or in German. The program of the specific event indicates the employed language. The following events are planned:

EU Green Deal Call

Climate change and environmental pollution have been central topics within EU politics for a long time. The Green Deal, set out by European Commission in 2019, aims at making the EU’s economy sustainable and turning climate and environmental challenges into opportunities acroos all policy areas. The Green Deal Call aims at supporting research and innovation in line with the priorities of the European Green Deal. The Call is designed to foster sustainable economics as well as a smart growth strategy with the aim to establish a climate-neutral Europe by 2050. In September 2020 it is expected that interested researchers can apply for funds within the European Green Deal Call. The Call is divided into 11 exciting and inter-disciplinary areas with a various number of sub-topics which are correlated to face today’s challenges. Areas include for example green traffic, the usage of sustainable energy as well as societal challenges such as bioeconomics and green, fair and healthy food.

Research fund “Implementation of coordinated programmes”

Fundable are travel expenses for administrative meetings and material expenses (includes funding of supporting staff, editorial reports and costs for translation, in case of ERC-proposals costs for coaching and interview training)

Max. 5000 Euro: EU-collaborative projects, ITN, ERA-Net, or other EU-funded joint projects.

Max. 5000 Euro: Joint projects of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)

Max. 2500 Euro: Proposals at the European Research Council (ERC) for the ERC-sections Starting/Consolidator/Advanced/Synergy Grant (for proposal coaching and interview training)

Application Procedure

Required documents:

  • Draft of the project (max. 2 pages)

  • Name of the funding organization and specific programme (‘call’)

  • Budget plan

The vice president for research decides about the proposals in respect to the availability of funds. The funding has to be used within 6 months after the grant. A usage list is mandatory and due within 3 months after the funding was spent. Additionally, the proposal must be turned in including a confirmation that the proposal was submitted to the funding organization.

In case a proposal is not submitted, the university can reclaim the funding from the applicant.
