GRADE in times of Corona * update as of April 3, 2020 *

Dear Doctoral Candidates and Postdocs,

as you have certainly read on Goethe University’s website, the university is taking further measures to limit the corona risk. This also concerns GRADE and our services.

The publication of the workshop program summer semester 2020 will be done in two steps. Since the beginning of April, the courses that will be held as online workshops in April and May have been activated. A second release will take place at the beginning of May for the workshops in June and July. We are pleased that, despite the difficult starting position, we are able to offer you a somewhat limited, but overall varied and attractive workshop program! Other events such as the CareerTalks, Social Events, Center events etc. will be postponed to a later date this or next semester.

The GRADE team is mostly on work from home since March 18, 2020. The Coaching sessions as well as the Open Office consultation hours will be postponed or will take place by telephone. The GRADE staff is available for you via their office telephone numbers and email adresses at the usual working hours.

Stay safe and healthy!

NACAPS National Academics Panel Study of doctoral candidates and doctorate holders

First results available

The first results of the National Academics Panel Study (Nacaps) are now available online via a data portal: The portal presents analyses of Germany´s largest survey of doctoral canditates based on the data of more than 20.000 respondents. Doctoral candidates and doctorate holders throughout the country are surveyed at regular intervals on the study conditions for their doctorates, career aims and professional development, as well as on their general life situation.

The Early Career Researchers of Goethe University showed an above average participation during this first round. So we hope that this high level can be kept up now for the follow-up survey, which started March 3, 2020. Active participation is very important because only with a wide range of respondents can we gain a full picture of the doctorate landscape.

Take part! Make your experiences count!
