T-KNOX - Teacher Knowledge Experiment
Pedagogical content knowledge is a key aspect of teachers‘ professional competence. Recent empirical studies have shown that such knowledge is essential to high quality teaching as well as to successful student learning. The question of how teachers develop pedagogical content knowledge is therefore of pivotal interest to empirical educational research. The T-KnoX study was an experimental research project designed to investigate the conditions necessary for active development of pedagogical content knowledge, focussing on the impact both content knowledge and pedagogical knowledge may have on the development of pedagogical content knowledge.
T-KnoX was a joint project of Goethe University Frankfurt and the IPN in Kiel which was responsible for coordination. It was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of their priority programme “Competence Models“.
