Marija Grujić is working as a Scientific Assistant at Goethe University ́s (Frankfurt, Germany) Sociology department [http://www.fb03.uni-frankfurt.de/48468833/Marija-Grujic-M_Sc_], where she is as well pursing a doctoral degree in Sociology. Her PhD project is a qualitative study on internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Kosovo residing since 1999 in Serbia. In her thesis she is aiming to contribute to the field of feminist interpretation of nationalism, discursive embodiment of individual narratives and politics of belonging. She has an academic background in philosophy (BA, Belgrade University), gender studies (Belgrade University) and religious studies (MA, Sarajevo University). She wrote her MA thesis on discourses of the Serbian Orthodox Church vis-à-vis social justice and selected gender issues. She also worked in a various NGOs and civil organizations in Serbia, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina dealing with the issues such as gendered based violence intersected with the faith based activism, peace activism and LGBTIQ human rights. Her current academic interest is gendered nationalism, politics of belonging, displacement and transnational Orthodoxy. She is a co-founder and a member of two doctoral groups (critical writing and discourse approaches) at Goethe University, and also a member of the International Sociological Association.



Publications


Her latest publication is on the contesting relations between the Serbian Orthodox Church and “Kosovo question” in the contemporary Serbia, and it is forthcoming in early 2015 in an edited volume on Serbia and Kosovo (Pittsburg University Press).
