Short CV


Born in Adelaide in 1988, Chris completed his Bachelor in International Studies with majors in political theory and European history in 2011. Subsequently he completed an Honours thesis in 2012 entitled ‘The Puzzle of German Nuclear Disengagement: Can They Do It?’, graduating with first class Honours and being awarded the Chancellors Commendation and the University Medal for Academic Excellence in Social and Behavioural Sciences.

Christopher Lee-Gaston is current studying his PhD under a joint-contract (Cotutelle) between Frankfurt University and Flinders University, South Australia. His research interests include organisational politics, social movements and protest groups, particularly within civil nuclear politics. He is currently conducting research into private research organisations and their historical role and development within German nuclear politics.

 Conducting research in Germany since February 2013, aside from being a member of GRADE and the IPP Transnational, Chris is also a member of the Interdisciplinary Working Group on Science, Technology and Security (IANUS) and is involved in organising lectures and seminars at the Technical University of Darmstadt. After coordinating a seminar in Winter semester 2013/2014 entitled ‘Nuclear Energy: National and international Power Perspectives’ with Dr. Matthias Englert, Chris is currently organising an International Lecture Series entitled ‘The Technology and Tragedy – Normal Accidents and the possibility of the improbable’ in cooperation with the TU Darmstadt and Prof. Dr. Alfred Nordmann. He is also the coordinator of the ADHOC Doctoral Group ‘Resource Management and Thesis Support’.
