This year, Goethe University Frankfurt is once again inviting students, employees, citizens, friends, alumni as well as local residents to spend a refreshing day rich in variety:

on June 27, 2024, from 3.00 p.m. to midnight, at Goethe University's Summer Festival on Westend Campus.

Four bands will bring you live music and rhythms until late at night. A wide variety of sports as well as a cultural program and games offer entertainment for our guests, both young and old. Furthermore, food and drinks in all shapes and sizes are available on the grounds.

Our Summer Festival offers a little something for everyone and invites you to linger.

The entrance is free!

Opening act: Peur Le Fleur | 3.30 - 4.30 p.m.

Peur Le Fleur came together in spring 2022 via one of the university's notice boards. This brought together an interesting mix of different musical backgrounds, experiences and inspirations. However, all five members share a love of music, which is felt in their unique songs that sometimes sound louder, sometimes softer. Some songs are about beautiful things like love or the healing effects of nature, some about ugly topics like exploitation, catcalling or war.

President's Welcome | 4.30 - 4.45 p.m.

Personal welcome by Goethe University President Enrico Schleiff.

SWING DANCER | 4.45 - 5.15 p.m.

Let's get into the summer swing of things together! Immerse yourself in the world of jazz, with a touch of nostalgia and a lot of swinging energy.

Live swing music: let the band die Schwindler take you on a musical journey back to the 1930s, when swing conquered the dance floors

Gastone - Pasta für die Ohren | 5.30 - 7.00 p.m.

In its 20-year career, GASTONE has played well over 1000 concerts, including 2 tours of Japan and many joint appearances with La Vela Puerca, Panteon Rococo and Patrice. The band is fronted by Guiseppe "GASTONE" Porrello, a Frankfurt native with Sardinian-Sicilian roots. His unmistakable voice is reminiscent of cigars and whiskey. Rough as sandpaper and no less catchy. He describes his songs, in which he pleads for a better world, as spaghetti ska with a sauce of world music. A very special treat that gets young and old alike moving and dancing.

It's pasta for your ears!

Karrera | 7.30 - 8.30 p.m.

"We did not care at all about all this - we had us and that was it"

The five band members found each other in the dimly lit, rustic pubs of Hamburg. They are among the last born of the last millennium and describe life in their twenties with lush analog synthesizers, chorus guitars and steroid drums.

Karrera have managed to revive an almost forgotten sound in an idiosyncratic way. Following in the footsteps of the historically grown, they write songs about euphoria, love and warm summer nights, skillfully moving between old clichés and a new vibe.

The five make their listeners part of their story. The perfect soundtrack for empty streets and nightclubs that are open to a state of emergency. The music is based on powerfully pounding drums and a pressing bass - rocking guitars that aren't posed enough to be cheesy, on top of which sits a megalomaniacal synthpop blanket, so that a voice sounds over everything, singing with the heart of a Rio Reiser about what made the five resonate with the world last night.

Karrera ultimately sound like what they are: Night owls, friends, seekers.

Zoe & David | 8.30 - 9.00 p.m.

Talented ballet performers David Leonidas Thiel and Zoe Lenzi Allaria bring their skills to the stage. Both studied at the Palucca University of Dance in Dresden and worked with luminaries such as Ohad Naharin.

Let yourself be surprised and enchanted by an extraordinary performance!

ok.danke.tschüss | 9.00 - 10.30 p.m

"All of you are pussy babies!" (Ihr seid alle Muschigeburten)

... is a sentence not every band can throw at their audience. In the case of ok.danke.tschüss, however, the crowd sings along fervently and proudly. Anyone who wonders why must urgently attend a concert by this band.

In addition to insults (preferably leveled against illnesses), they cover a range from sugar-sweet singer-songwriter pieces to thunderous rock anthems.

DJ Duo Buttmoney | 11.30 p.m. - midnight

Frankfurt-based DJ Duo Buttmoney consisting of photographer/artist Ilayda and up and coming architect Dilara.Coming from their turkish roots, their love for dancing inspires them to introduce people to new rhythms and harmonies. Serving you an energetic blend of breaks, bass, sprinkles of hip hop mixed with arabic/turkish influences. Get ready for eclectic club sounds from all over the world — International and selected.

+++ Sports and Cultural Program +++

Museum Giersch of Goethe University | 3.00 - 6.00 p.m.

Open studio: Creative with Scribble Line Art

Using bright colors, patterns and paper surfaces, participants create their own masterpieces, inspired by the fascinating and colorful paintings of Louise Rösler. In the process, they discover the exciting "Scribble Line Art" technique, in which an uninterrupted line is used to create a picture.

The MGGU is showing the exhibition "Paris, Königstein, Berlin. Louise Rösler (1907-1993)" until August 25, 2024.

Check wer fährt - Who's driving? | 3.00 - 6.00 p.m.

Partying... but check who's driving!

Dancing, having fun and partying with your friends - simply perfect! But getting behind the wheel after having taken drugs or drunk alcohol? That's not a great idea. It puts you and others at risk, and if you are stopped by the police, you could face heavy fines, loss of your driver's license and an expensive MPU.

To prevent this from happening, visit our hands-on stations at the summer festival! Employees from the City of Frankfurt's Drugs Unit and experts from the prevention department of the Arbeits- und Erziehungshilfe e.V. will be on site to offer exciting activities and helpful information.

Drop by and celebrate safely!

Drawing Box | 3.00 - 6.00 p.m.

A must-have!

Forget about restrictions on standardized portraits or tight cropping, and finally show that smile again! Our drawing box creates sheets with different poses in color or black and white, alone or in a group. Caution: These do not meet the standards for official documents (passport, identity card...).

After the festival, the box will move to the SKW building room 3A.120. It is still uncertain when it will close its window, so don't miss this opportunity.

They will be on site during this year's summer festival once again, offering all kinds of fun and games for young and old.
