About
Since 2023 Melina Götze has been a research associate and Ph.D. candidate in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Goethe University Frankfurt. After completing her B.A. in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the LMU Munich, she studied the M.A. Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University of Bayreuth. Her PhD research project under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mirco Göpfert examines translocal lifeworlds of people from Ghana in Germany with a temporary residence status focusing on the (un)doing of belonging and citizenship.

Areas of research and interest
- Political and legal anthropology with an emphasis on transnationalism, migration and border processes 
- Affective, political and legal dimensions of belonging and citizenship
- Anthropology of the state and bureaucratic practices
- Phenomenological approaches and lifeworld research in anthropology
