Vita

Markus Baumann studied political science and economics (M.A.) at the University of Mannheim. In his dissertation (2016/17) with the title Individual Parliamentary Behavior and Responsiveness in Non-Partisan Contexts, he explored individualized preference formation and decision making by legislators in European parliaments.

During the winter term 2019/20 Dr. Baumann will be Interim Professor for Comparative Politics (replacing Prof. Dr. Thomas Zittel).

From April to September 2019, Markus Baumann was a post-doc researcher in the project The Nature of Political Representation in Times of Dealignment (NAPRE) from which he is currently on leave until April 2020.

He has previously held positions at the Collaborative Research Center 884 – Political Economy of Reforms (University of Mannheim), at the Professorship for the Political System of Germany (University of Oldenburg), at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES), at the Department of Political Science (Lund University), and at the Institute of Political Science (Heidelberg University).
