Focus Line A|B: Promotion of Independent Grant Proposals

The program Focus A|B aims at high qualified early career researchers up to 6 years after finishing their PhD who are currently preparing their own independent grant proposal.

The goal is to increase the chances of successful extramural funding when future research independence is observable, and strengthening the visibility in the research community.

Overview Focus A|B

WHO?   Early career researchers, up to six years* after completion of their PhD, who have an innovative research idea and are currently preparing their own independent grant proposal.
    * Parental leave is taken into account (up to 2 years per child)
     
WHAT?   > Participation in a grant application workshop
> flexible funding of up to EUR 10,000 (e.g. for student assistants, travel costs)
> additional support by an academic mentor during the application phase
     
WHY?   Increasing chances of successful extra-mural funding when future research independence is observable, and strengthening of visibility in the research community.
     
GOAL?   Submission of grant proposal within the twelve months of funding by the Focus program and start into an independent career.

  2. Please submit the following further documents by email to fokus@grade.uni-frankfurt.de
  • a short, generally comprehensible, and precisely written project proposal (3 pages max.):
    - describe current research, planned cooperation projects, and goals
    - outline what kind of grant proposal is being planned and why
    - point out how the funds applied for contribute to or enhance the realization of the project
  • summary of the planned expenditure of the Focus funds
  • time schedule for the duration of the Focus program
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • list of publications
  • letter from the institute verifying the institutional support (infrastructure like rooms, computers, necessary facilities), and the affiliation with Goethe University via employment or scholarship for the duration of the Focus program
