EXC 243

Dear prospective candidate for our Master scholarships.

Before you take a closer look at the website of the research centre, we would like to give you some basic information about it.

Here is a short profile for your convenience:
The researchers in the humanities and social sciences united in the Frankfurt Cluster of Excellence have made it their task to analyse processes of societal transformation with a focus on the formation of normative orders. Their research does not understand societal orders as reduceable to mere facticity or functionality, but as essentially (co)determined through their normative dimension(s). Normative Orders are understood in this context as historically grounded „orders of justification“ based upon „justification narratives“, within which norms and values of very different kinds (moral, legal and religious, to mention just a few) are interconnected or give rise to tensions, which legitimize orders and/or provide the basis for their critique – always in a dynamic sense.
