Since 2009 I have been Professor of Differential Psychology and Psychological Diagnostics at the Goethe University of Frankfurt. My research focus is on stress and emotion. In addition to basic research, I am also interested in the application-oriented implementation of findings in clinical and occupational psychology (to promote health, job satisfaction, motivation and performance), taking into account interindividual differences in the area of personality.
It is a central concern of mine to provide students with practical training in psychological diagnostics.
The Diagnostics and Evaluation Department (ADE) I set up represents an interface between science, teaching and professional practice. This is managed and coordinated by my colleague Dr. Thiele, who is a certified psychologist for forensic psychology. The ADE offers services in the field of psychological diagnostics. The focus of it lies in the preparation of expert opinions in the fields of family psychology and psychology of evidence - on behalf of Hessian courts and public prosecutor's offices. Students are taught practical skills in diagnostics and intervention in the field of forensic psychology within the framework of internships, observation sessions and student assistant work. Graduates in the subject of psychology (diploma/master) take on evaluation assignments as external honorary staff within the framework of postgraduate training as special psychologists for forensic psychology in order to cover the practical part of the training.
In addition, there is close contact with various institutions involved in psychodiagnostics. I also use these contacts for the practical training of the students, for example in the form of observation sessions, which are carried out within the framework of diagnostic seminars.
Since the promotion of young scientists is close to my heart, I am active in various mentoring programs.
