From chemistry to corporate strategy or why career planning is potentially a waste of time

September 19, 2019 | 4:30 - 6:00 pm

After Annemarie Schreeb graduated as Master of Science / Chemistry at the Goethe-University Frankfurt, she was part of the GRADE Graduate Academy for 1.5 years as a PhD student. After deciding not to continue her doctorate in 2013, she moved into the automotive industry. At the car manufacturer Opel, the young chemist was initially responsible for the European production sites as a project manager for Environmental Compliance & Sustainability. Later she moved to the Public Affairs department to work as Chief of Staff on topics such as “dieselgate” and the transition of Opel from GM to Groupe PSA. After the transaction, she then became spokesperson for corporate communications. As contact for corporate and trade journalists, she played a key role in communicating the corporate strategy. Since January 2019, Annemarie Schreeb has been Chief of Staff to the Managing Director and a member of the Senior Leadership Team at the French engineering service provider Segula Technologies. In her position she accompanied the purchase of large parts of the Opel development center and is now responsible for all post-merger activities while establishing the German headquarters of Segula Technologies.

In her Career Talk, Annemarie Schreeb will elaborate why in an environment of high uncertainty traditional career planning is potentially a waste of time. Why it can lead you into a false sense of confidence, where you fail to see opportunities as they arise and miss taking smart steps you otherwise hadn’t planned for.

Außerdem wird sie aufzeigen, wie die Deutsche Bahn zum Umwelt-Vorreiter werden will und welche "grünen Berufe" im Unternehmen dazu einen Beitrag leisten."
