Professor Dr. Gunther Hellmann
Gunther Hellmann is a Professor of Political Science at Goethe University, Frankfurt a.M. He specializes in international relations, German foreign policy, European & transatlantic security relations, and the theory of international relations. Before assuming his position at Goethe University in 1999, he taught at Freie Universität Berlin and Darmstadt University of Technology. Since 2007, he has been a Principal Investigator in the context of Goethe University’s Center of Excellence “Formation of Normative Orders”. In 2008-2009, he held the “Steven Muller Chair in German Studies” at the SAIS Bologna Center of Johns Hopkins University, in 2012 he was the “Harris Distinguished Visiting Professor” at Dartmouth College, Hanover, in 2012/13 he was Senior Fellow at the Transatlantic Academy, GMF, Washington, D.C., in the fall of 2017 he was Senior Fellow at the Centre for Global Cooperation Research. Since 2014, he has served as Executive Secretary, resp. President of the World International Studies Committee. He is a Member of the Board of the Aspen Institute Germany and a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation German-American Academic Relations.
